Foreign affiliates of Belgian companies [BELMOFI]

 Updates

28/06/2010

This database collects data on foreign affiliates of Belgian companies in 1995, 2001 and 2005.  It allows the top 10 entreprise groups for these three years to be established.   It also includes information on the number, the host countries and the activity branch of those affiliates.

The Federal Planning Bureau (FPB) developed the “BELMOFI” database using information on the foreign branches of Belgian companies.  Currently, the database contains three observation periods:  1995, 2001 and 2005.  All information about the development and the main results of this database is available in Working Paper 23-08.

The most important data presented in table form in the database are:

  • Belgian enterprise groups and their affiliates abroad, in 1995, 2001 and 2005 (Table 22 of the publication);
  • Number of foreign affiliates of Belgian companies in different countries in 1995, 2001 and 2005 (table in Annex 1 of the publication);
  • Top 10 enterprise groups in 1995, 2001 and 2005 (Table 24 of the publication);
  • Overview of the activities of the Belgian affiliates abroad in 2005 (Table 9 of the publication);
