Dirk Verwerft is an analyst in the Structural Studies team and as such examines the impact of structural reforms, mainly through the development, updating, and implementation of dynamic general equilibrium models. He is responsible for managing the Belgian version of the DSGE model QUEST III R&D developed by DG ECFIN of the European Commission at the FPB. He also develops in house a dynamic general equilibrium model characterized by heterogeneity between industries and semi-endogenous growth. These models are used e.g. for the evaluation of public investment, market reforms and research and development policies. Also, the analysis of the long-term effects of tax shifts is work in progress.
His educational background includes studies in mathematics, sociology and economics.
