2023 Annual Report of the Study Committee on Ageing [CEV2022]

 Updates

11/07/2023

This database presents the very-long-term outlook of social protection expenditure (budgetary costs of ageing) and the evaluation of the poverty risk among pensioners according to the hypotheses of the Study Committee on Ageing’s reference scenario.

The Study Committee on Ageing was created within the framework of the law of 5 September 2001 which guaranteed a continuous reduction of public debt and founded the Ageing Fund. The Committee was established within the High Council of Finance. The Committee is commissioned with drawing up an annual report on the budgetary and social consequences of ageing. The Federal Planning Bureau (FPB) is responsible for the committee’s technical and administrative secretariat.

The series in the files generally cover the period 2000-2070. The projections are made using the MALTESE modelling system (macrofiscal model) and the MIDAS model (microsimulation model) of the FPB. The analysis results are presented in the Annual Report of the Study Committee on Ageing of July 2022.
