This paper estimates the Armington elasticity for the Belgian economy for different levels of (dis)aggregation. At a highly disaggregated level covering about 4,500 HS products, the estimated value of the elasticity ranges from 1.12 to 70.69. Across CPA product groups, the value of the elasticity ranges from 2.40 to 16.63. The corresponding aggregate elasticity ranges from 1.98 to 2.48.

The Belgian economy is expected to grow by 1,1% in 2024 and 1,3% in 2025. 16,000 jobs are expected to be created in 2024 and 25,000 next year. The employment rate would barely increase. Inflation should still reach 3,2% this year and only fall back below 2% in 2025.

The "work bonus" measure is designed to stimulate labour supply and fight employment traps. Our evaluation shows that the work bonus has a non-negligible positive effect on retention. On the other hand, the measure has no effect on the evolution of the number of hours of work and slows the growth of gross wages.

The report describes and evaluates policy pursued by examining the implementation of the Federal Plan for Sustainable Development, adopted by the government in 2021. The implementation of the plan is assessed by calculating the implementation indicator of the Federal Plan 2021 and with eight case studies focusing on measures of this plan. The report also describes and assesses the existing situation.

The Gender Pension Gap (GPG) shows much variation between the EU Member States. This report analyses the links between the GPG, aspects of pension systems and gender inequalities on the labour market in past decades.

The Gender Pension Gap (GPG) and the Gender Pension Coverage Gap (GPCG) are indicators of inequality between genders concerning pensions. This report discusses the extent and evolution of the GPG and GPCG in the EU countries. Also, these measures are evaluated as to their quality as indicators of gender inequality in old age, and proposals for possible improvements are made.

The Flemish Region in Belgium reformed its registration tax for passenger cars and its annual road tax in 2012 and 2016 respectively. We find that those reforms have caused an accelerated, but small, decrease in the CO2 emission factors of new cars sold in Flanders.

This report presents 78 indicators and an assessment of their progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the UN in 2015. It provides a detailed overview of Belgium's international position and, for the first time, a breakdown by region and for different population categories such as age, gender or income. Finally, it analyses the evolution of the well-being of Belgians and its sustainability for future generations.
