To evaluate the current state of the Belgian economy, the FPB regularly updates a series of indicators. The indicators concern the macro-economic stance of the economies of Belgium, its three neighbouring countries and the euro area, as well as the transport industry.
In June 2010, the European Council decided on a new strategy for structural reform, called "Europe 2020: A European strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth". This strategy sets objectives in five areas for the EU as a whole to be achieved by 2020. In addition, the national reform programmes define national targets for each of the areas.
